Use this checklist when a job transfers to another employee while work or a customer promise is still open. The blank 15-column CSV and fictional worked example show how to record acceptance, actual coverage and the next decision.

What a valid handoff requires
Record the job reference, reason for the handoff, last verified status, blocker, current customer promise, outgoing and proposed incoming owners, explicit acceptance state, who covers the job until acceptance, next deliverable and check time, escalation rule, and authoritative record.
Accepted versus pending
In the fictional example, production job P-418 is accepted by Riley. Job P-421 remains unaccepted, so the shop manager Dana accepts temporary coverage on Thursday before Ava leaves. A Friday check then belongs to Dana. Another case demonstrates an accepted technician-to-billing transfer.
Mark Pending when a receiver has not agreed. Before the outgoing employee finishes their shift, the manager must confirm a covering owner; a name in a spreadsheet does not provide overnight coverage. This tracker is for ordinary administrative work and cannot replace specialized safety or regulated shift-change procedures.
Use it alongside the Work Handoff Checklist guide.
